Up in flames

Most teenagers spend their Saturday mornings out shopping, going to the cinema or doing normal, sociable things. But me and my friends like to paint ourselves white and take photos. My friend Sam, Akemi (if you read my blog you'll remember her from this post) and I took these today and I'm so so happy with how they look!

I had a bit of a revelation at school the other day where I decided I want to do fashion photography at uni, after having a strong interest in it for some while now. I'm currently saving up for a decent camera -a Canon EOS 600D to be precise- and have bought two soft boxes from eBay (with my first pay cheque!). Needless to say if you've seen other posts Akemi has done with me she is into photography too, not to mention very talented at it.

Hope you're all having a good weekend!

Bah Humbug

Scarf - New Look, Coat, Shoes, Tartan Top - Primark, Black Playsuit (worn as pinafore) - H&M
I went to London today, in the hope of going to Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park. But we arrived and it was shut. Hmm, we probably should have checked it was open before going. So we went shopping instead! I bought some nice bits and pieces which I'll probably write a haul post about later in the week. I thought I would share a few photos of what I wore (which you can't really see because of my coat and scarf) but hey ho.

Have a lovely weekend!

Kansai Yamamoto at the V&A

Pre show photos of the catwalk, photography/lights section and seats
Wearing a Happi coat designed by Kansai Yamamoto himself, photo taken with a geisha (a member of the audience!) and another volunteer
Incredible quilted catsuit (as worn by David Bowie) and Kansai at the final show
All the models in their crazily coloured outfits with Kansai in the middle
This Friday I took part in a (eleven hour!) day at the V&A helping run a fashion show. It was part of the V&As programme Fashion in Motion, featuring Kansai Yamamoto. His designs were beautiful to say the least, featuring vivid colours and bright prints (which can bee seen in the photo above).

My favourite piece by far was the iPad dress, which is on the far right in the photo. It had a beautiful floral train and the model had clear spikes on her head, amazing. The show itself was crazy, at one point people dressed in black danced around with white dolls dressed in jackets and hats, models cartwheeled down the catwalk and a man playing a traditional Japanese trumpet type instrument sat at the front. Another lovely touch was small coins were placed on each seat, which are a Japanese token for good luck (commonly tied onto people's shoelaces, according to one of the models).

I had a wonderful day and after previously helping with a Jenny Packham show in June, I cannot wait to do it again this December.

Stronghold in my poor soul

Hat- Vintage, Jumper - Charity shop, Jeans/Jeggings -H&M, Boots - Urban Outfitters

Dress - Oasis via eBay, Coat - Charity shop, Shoes - Primark, Hat - Vintage

Hello! This is my super talented photographer/film director friend Akemi. We took some photos in the woods today, and the majority of the time whilst I was taking them of Akemi I was saying things like 'why won't it focus' 'THE CAMERA IS BROKEN' 'Akemi help me' but I managed to take a few non-blurry ones, haha. Before shooting we took a trip to some charity shops and bought a few things. I was so excited about this coat, it was only £6.50, whereas in Topshop they're about £70. It may smell like musky old people but who cares.

You can follow Akemi here:

Hope you're all having a good week!

I wanna be your vaccum cleaner, breathing in your dust

top - primark, jeans - topshop, boots - ebay, hat - primark

A bit different to the usual precariously placed tripod in my back garden I think you'll agree! My friend Akemi took these today and after a few gravel engraved hands and muddy bums I think we got some good photos. How exciting. I've been an awful blogger recently and haven't been posting any where near as much as I should be so for that I apologise, but hopefully I should be getting my act together and posting a bit more, fingers crossed anyway.

Hope you're having a good week!

FOTD: Autumn makeup

MUA Pressed power in 01 Light, Sleek Contour Kit, Collection Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner, MUA Heaven and Earth Pallet, Rimmel London Scandleyes Mascara, NYC Mousse Foundation 701 Natural Beige, Barry M Lipstick 160 Deep Cherry, Sleek Blush in Rose Gold

Hello! It feels like a while since I've written anything on here, School has been taking over my life yet again! Here's a few things that have happened to me in the past few weeks:
  1. I got a job! Finally I'm a working woman.
  2. I lost my iPhone, found it, and then it broke. O2 finally got their act together today and fixed it after about 5 attempts.
  3. I've (yet again) been drowning in art coursework
  4. Autumn walks have been my highlight this month, something about walking in the rain surrounded by trees fills me with joy.
I'm sure I've posted about the above items before so I won't go into too much detail, but these are my favourite products to wear at the moment (well, all the time really). I prefer darker makeup looks to light ones, as they contrast with my hair more and make me look scary. Whether I should like that or not I don't know!

I have 'Rag Week' coming up at school where we all raise money for charity and dress up in a different costume every day. I'm debating posting about my costumes and maybe doing tutorials for it, if anyone want to see it then I will!

Is anyone else really excited for Christmas already? I'm such a child when it comes to the holiday season but I can't wait! Also now I'm earning my own money I'll be able to get good presents for people this year, as well as some decent stuff for myself mwahaha.

Hope you all had a good weekend,

Rosie x

Blue Collar Jane

Shirt - UniQlo, Dress - Topshop, Shoes - Shoe Zone, Hat - H&M
(how pale do my legs want to look?! I am wearing tights so it must be those..)

Hello! I'm off to South Kensington today to trawl the museums to get some research for an art project. I'm pretty sure most of the day will be spent in the kids section of the science museum (I'm sure anyone who's been will understand how insanely good it is) but there you go.

Am I the only person that is actually really loving the weather at the moment? Cold enough to wear a coat but not cold enough that you freeze!

If I was a rich girl, na na na na na...

If only I had enough money to splurge on all of these gorgeous things. Although I try to stick to 'the more you have the more you want, so getting things doesn't achieve anything' general Buddhism teaching, oh man I want this stuff, bad.

Perfume, is a basic human right. As are shoes and coats. The candle I need for warmth (...) and I need the pens to write, which in turn will help me pass my exams and get me a job, which will pay for food. So in conclusion, I don't want these glorious items, I need them to survive. As for the camera, I don't need it, I have a perfectly good camera. But yes I do want it, sorry Buddha.

Products I've been loving reccently

From left: S&G Girligo, Maybelline Pure BB Cream, Inell Lip Balm, Kate Moss for Rimmel London in 01, Rimmel London 100 Kisses in 'Nothing but Nude', Studio Matt & Messy Salt Spray, Sudocrem

These are some products that I have been using and loving almost everyday this past month.

Soap and Glory Girligo Spray Moisturiser
I received this as a present last Christmas, and up until now it's sat gathering dust in my big box of body care products looking lonely. However, I brought this on holiday with me as I figured I wouldn't want to fully moisturise on holiday, I would want something quick and easy. I quickly fell in love with it and I've been using it regularly since. It has the trademark sweet scented S&G smell, and like most other S&G moisturisers/body butters it absorbs into the skin very well. I'm very lazy when it comes to skincare and this is perfect for people like me, a few sprays, rub it in and you're good to go. You don't have to stand around with your arms and legs stuck out waiting for it to absorb. I only have a small sized bottle as it came in a gift set but I'm close to running out so I will be repurchasing soon.

Maybelline Pure BB Cream
This is the first BB cream I've ever used, and initially, I didn't get on with it. It was too shiny for my liking and I didn't like the coverage. However, I persisted in using it as I didn't want to waste my money and I've gotten used to it and now I love it. I think with a product like this you need to get used to how to apply it, how much to apply, what brush to use, etc. I find also using powder over the top to reduce shine doesn't mattify my face completely (as I used to do with foundations) but I find this gives my face more of a 'glow'. This is perfect for everyday use when you don't particularly want much makeup on (for example school or work), or if you're having a good skin day. The only major issue I would say is you don't get very much, I've been using this for just over a month and I've nearly run out.

Inell Visage Lip Balm
I bought this in Carrefour (French/European supermarket) for a euro or something while I was in France because I forgot to bring a lipbalm with me. I am very fussy when it comes to lipbalms, anything slightly sticky or too greasy I don't use and it goes in the bottom of my lip drawer. However this one I really like. It's designed to protect against the sun (I think, my French isn't amazing) which was perfect for the South of France because of the blazing heat. The product itself is white, and tastes (unsurprisingly) of suncream. It absorbs very well, almost instantly, but still leaves my lips feeling moisturised and soft without the greasy residue most lip balms leave. I'm trying to go steady with using this, because a trip all the way back to France to get another may be a tad... excessive.

Kate Moss for Rimmel London Matte Lipstick in 01
I love this lipstick. It's the perfect deep red for Autumn (although I've been wearing it all through summer) and it lasts a long time. I prefer matte lipsticks to glossy ones, and this one is creamy but not too glossy. I'm very tempted to buy some more Kate Moss lipsticks, this one is perfect.

Rimmel London 1000 Kisses Lip Tint in 'Nothing but Nude'
After buying and loving another shade from this range (timeless tango I believe it was called) I wanted to buy another one in a shade that can be worn on a more day to day basis. This is the perfect colour and gives a small hint of orange/pink. I prefer lipstains to lipsticks because they last so much longer, and don't smudge. The little lipbalm on the end of these though has fallen off both times which is quite annoying, as they need a coat of lipbalm as they can be quite drying.

Studio Matt And Messy Salt Spray
I bought this about a month or so ago after wanting a salt spray but not wanting to spend too much money. I found this was particularly nice on holiday after being in the pool, which made my hair somewhat stiff so it was easier to style using the spray. I usually use a little of this right after I've dried my hair, and it gives it a little extra texture and body. I also wouldn't recommend using this too regularly as it can be drying for your hair and cause it to look greasy. Once in a while however this product is lovely.

Sudocrem
After being an acne sufferer for about three years, I've been left with some scarring on both my cheeks. My acne (thank god) is now gone, thanks to taking the controversial roaccutane pill for six months (which was prescribed, I obviously do not recommend use without consulting a doctor). Using sudocrem to rid my cheeks of scarring was recommended to me by a friend, and I'm so thankful. This has visibly reduced my scarring (which is now almost completely gone). I swear by his product and recommend it to anyone suffering with acne/acne scarring. This is a product where you can see results almost instantly, which is always very reassuring.

Hope you're having a good week!

Sugar and Style

Hello! Today's post is a collage outfit from Sugar and Style. I love all of the pieces above, when I saw the shorts I fell in love- the white lace is so pretty. The  bag also is the perfect colour, it looks brilliant for taking out shopping. The shirt also is gorgeous, I love the colour and simpleness of it. I would wear something like this if I went out for the day, I think it's got a very casual feel to it but it still looks stylish.

I recommend you check out Sugar and Style, they have gorgeous pieces and it's very affordable too! The link to the website is below in the sidebar ->

Hope you're having a lovely week!

Primark and New Look Haul!

Primark £8

Primark £1 each (reduced)

Primark £3 (reduced)

Primark £10

Primark £1
New Look £17.99

I've been shopping! This is sort of a 'back to school' haul, because all of the items I bought specifically to wear to school. I'm so happy with the bag, it's the perfect size to carry all of my books and the colour is very pretty as well. I thought £17.99 was a pretty good price as well and since I received some money for my results I thought why the hell not. The polka dot £3 top was actually a size 16 but I tried it on and I liked the fit, it was over sized and I could easily tuck it into high waisted shorts or jeans. The £10 polka dot shirt (bit of a polka dot theme going on here) I fell in love with as soon as I saw it. I thought £10 was a little steep for Primark, but I found other bargains in there I was practically saving money (...). The striped top actually said £3 on it, but at the till I only paid £1. I bought it a size too big so I could again have more of an over sized feel, as I'm not a huge fan of tight fitting tops. I thought I could wear all of the tops I bought with either denim shorts, jeans, or a skater skirt and because they're all black and white the colour doesn't matter.

The little suede boots look very cute with frilly socks, as they're the perfect length to just show over the top. These are perfect for just throwing on in the morning as they'll go with a lot. The rings I thought go very well together, and although I probably won't wear them to school they're very cute for weekends!

Despite the recent rise in prices and shipment of rhinestone snapbacks (I kid you not), I still love to shop in Primark and will most likely continue to do so for a while yet.

Hope you're all having a good week!
